Interesting. If you hear one of my messages, it'll reflect what I have been taking in over the past week or two. So Driscoll will definitely be present. Sometimes CT. Occasionally Chandler. And, of course, the word studies or commentaries I've used for prep. Our general disclaimer to our folks is always the same: check what's been said against the Word of God and, if there are disagreements, go with God's Word over what was preached.

I actively recommend Driscoll to our folks, knowing that they will hear common themes and even phrasing. I don't mind. I'm not there to impress them with how I say something. I'm there to help them hear and understand God's Word in a way that transforms them. I don't use notes when preaching (other than the powerpoint/program outline), so what I've taken in comes out in much the same way.

Now, if I were to claim it all as my own with no outside input (an arrogant and foolish claim, of course), that would be deceptive and wrong. But our folks know that, in the end, the ultimate source is Jesus. And I'm pretty good with that.

What an inspiring post this morning. It is such a privilege to see what God is doing in peoples' lives as they give themselves over to Him and to His service! God is raising up prayer warriors who understand the impact, power and meaning of prayer as a part of His plan.

I understand the battle with disillusionment over the originality (or lack thereof) of material that you hear others preach. I think there is a fine line between allowing the sermons, research, writing of others to inspire one versus purely lifting someone else's work and using it oneself simply because one is too lazy to put in the study time to develop a sermon or lesson. With that said though, your point about us focusing more on the Lord's words rather than on the perceived words of man is extremely valid. Ultimately, all that really matters is what does He say. Those of us who have a part in exhorting or encouraging others are blessed to have a part to play in His unfolding plan.

Um, after taking a look at your blog, I'm pretty sure that you and I are on two very different theological pages here. I am a firm believer in the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 3 in 1. Yes, Jesus was fully human, but He was also fully God. A couple of verses taken out of context and a video cannot change that. I thank you for your input, it was certainly interesting, but I cannot agree with it.

After GOD revealed Himself to Abraham, Abraham was a strictly monotheistic
(ONE-GOD) believer.

Now no man has seen GOD at any time!
[John 1.18, 1 John 4.12]
Thus GOD would therefore in OT times, speak to the patriarchs through His messengers, namely angels.

So GOD sent three angels to Abraham.
One of them would speak as the agent/messenger of GOD.

Because an angel speaks as an agent/ambassador/representative of GOD, such an angel would be addressed as Adonai

So in Gen 18.22 two of the angels went toward Sodom;
whilst the one representing GOD continued his discourse with Abraham.

Neither Abraham, Isaac, Jacob nor Jesus believed in a three-in-one, triune GOD.

Rather, Jesus identified the Father as the only true GOD.

The early church concurred:
(1 Cor 8:4) ... that there is none other God but one.
(1 Cor 8:6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, ...

to me "rich" doesn't mean money. I've never had lots of money and I know I'm never going to have lots of money and I don't care about that. To me, when God makes a person "rich" it's SO much more than money! But yeah, I totally see that point.

Freedom for me is a daily thing. I would love to say that I live in freedom daily, but that's just not true. It's more than daily, it's moment to moment that I have to remind myself that I am free from sin, it has no hold on me. And then remind myself to let it go.
